What you can do

Inspect a document before cleaning, without changing its contents.
Clean supported PDF document information, XMP metadata, markup annotations and selected document actions.
Clean supported DOCX author/editor properties, comments, revision identifiers and other supported metadata.
Review tracked changes, hidden text or custom XML before approving content changes to that exact DOCX file.
Retrieve the cleaned document and the report from your own Apify run.

Choose OAuth when offered and sign in to Apify with your own account. Review Apify's consent screen; its current OAuth scope is full_api_access, even when this URL selects one Actor. Connecting alone does not start a run.

Use one direct public HTTPS document URL or base64-encoded PDF/DOCX per run, up to 25 MiB. A local file path is not an upload instruction.

Apify pricing

A successfully cleaned document costs $4 on Apify Free or $0.02 on paid Apify plans. The displayed event price includes platform costs; an Apify plan subscription, if chosen, is separate. Inspection, confirmation requests, refused files and already-clean files have no cleaning-event charge.

Check current pricing before running. Existing purchases or balances for other Metadata Cleaner editions do not transfer to this Actor.

Scope and handling

This tool removes supported metadata; it does not redact visible content or guarantee anonymity. Images and their metadata, PDF form answers, hidden layers, links and visible identifying text may remain. DOCX cleaning can accept tracked insertions, remove tracked deletions, and remove explicitly hidden text or custom XML, so those changes require inspection and approval.

Documents are processed on Apify infrastructure. Reports and output files follow your Apify account's storage and access settings; the Actor does not automatically delete them. No document is sent to an LLM or a separate Metadata Cleaner service by the Actor.
